Project Description

PROJECT SUMMARY

Kier & Wright principal Chuck McCallum brought me on board to develop a Project Administration Department. This department would be in charge of the ongoing administrative operations of the firm's projects.

During this time we established business processes, new job positions, and procedures to correctly administer development projects. This included development of controlling functions for budgets and human resources as well.

During this time I also administered a number of sensitive and at risk projects with the firm.

The Project Administration department is still operating successfully with 10 employees serving their development and engineering staff.

LESSONS LEARNED

During my tenure I learned much more about the design side of development including Civil and Structural Engineering and Architectural development. I also continued in growing in my existing skillset of business development.

There was significant challenges introducing a new department to a company. I learned a lot about the difference between a good plan that is on paper, and a plan that can be executed inside the context of an orginization. It depended a lot on stakeholder consensus, and good diplomacy.
